"The concept for our wedding kind of evolved while we spent three days driving round the country with Nikki, looking for a venue. We wanted to create an energy, and we had so many ideas bouncing around. I was especially inspired by the Moroccan vibe of a place we saw in Jaffa. When we eventually found our venue, it was so pretty, and so contained, that we felt we could create the atmosphere we wanted.
"Anthony and I are not formal people – we see ourselves lazing in a Bedouin tent, not sitting at a table – so we wanted to create that kind of feeling. It worked, and people got properly involved! Our guests were blown away by the presentation of the wedding, and their energy really made the event.
"We created a “mystical garden by the beach” with an ethnic theme: lots of little lanterns, fabric and cushions in purple, orange, and blue, big copper plates on the table with bowls of spices to add colour and scent. The table flowers looked like they’d been found in a garden and picked, which gave a natural feel. We set up three pergolas with rattan sofas where people could chill with nargilas and watch the sea.
"To add to the atmosphere, we held a Friday night party on the beach a couple of days before the wedding, giving our guests an opportunity to get to know each other before the event. Nikki made it very easy, and it fitted our budget. It worked really well!
"At the wedding, the Israeli dancing was full of energy, then after dinner our first dance kicked everyone into action again. The band were amazing, and we all had great fun dancing to old school R&B when the DJ came on after midnight! Everyone was singing on the bus on the way home. It was like being on machaneh.
"Nikki made the whole thing plain sailing. She organised the bus to the venue and back. Nikki sorted everything out when the flat my in-laws rented wasn’t what they expected. She organised my mikva and was really understanding about it.
"She was brilliant and we recommend her. It’s not till you’re there, watching her in action, that you see how much stress she takes out of the situation for you. We were so on top of everything that when we arrived in Israel more than a week before the wedding, Nikki said we could hold the event that afternoon. It was very easy working with Nikki."
