"We weren’t sure if we were going to use a wedding planner. Most of my family lives in Israel, and we know the place well. But really, we wanted to get there and not have to worry about anything. And that’s how it turned out.
"We did know what we wanted, and we wanted to organise as much as we could ourselves. Dan speaks Hebrew so it was no trouble for him to talk to suppliers in Israel. However, there were some things we just couldn’t sort out for ourselves, so it was amazing to have someone out there on the ground.
"Where Nikki really added value was that she dealt with the rabbinate for us. Israeli bureaucracy is notoriously tricky, but we didn’t have to deal with any of it. She opened a file, went to meetings, and did all the paperwork. It would have been a nightmare to organise from abroad. She took away a lot of the hassle.
"Then, in the month running up to the wedding, Nikki was amazing. Any problems that arose, she dealt with before we even knew about it. When we were out in Israel, she took us round to all our appointments. It was fantastic to be so well looked after.
"Nikki really excelled on the night. It ran perfectly. It was just before Pesach, so there were loads of people from the UK there on holiday. We wanted our guests to have fun, and they did!
"It was a really mixed crowd, English and Israeli, and the event was a mix of English and Israeli wedding. We had speeches, and a sit-down dinner – but instead of dinner being formally plated up, we had different meats brought around to the tables that were always being replenished. This wouldn’t really have been an option in England. And it was wonderful to have the chuppa outside – we definitely couldn’t have done that at home! We felt the wedding struck the right balance, and there was a real atmosphere to the event.
"Nikki and I got on really well. I felt I could call her up really easily to talk everything over. Dan and I are really pleased with how the event turned out, and we’re really pleased to have worked with Nikki."
